DeNA, the company working on Nintendo games for smartphone devices, has said that the games they are working on will be free, according to The Wall Street Journal.

In an earnings briefing on Wednesday, Isao Moriyasu said, "Games currently in the pipeline are all free to play." This would mean that these games would rely on either advertisements or micro transactions to make their money. Recently, free to play has acquired a bad reputation due to a history of being "pay to win."

Nintendo made their deal with DeNA back in March, and promised to release at least five games by 2017. Their first game, Miitomo, was announced in October to some backlash, as people were saying that Miitomo is not really a game. Miitomo is a communication service that uses Miis from user's Nintendo accounts as avatars. Moriyasu disagrees somewhat, though, saying that the entertainment capabilities will prove the app's worth.

Miitomo is the first of the Nintendo and DeNA games, but more are surely on their way. To keep up with all of them, keep coming back to Hardcore Gamer.
