As Nintendo has long had a reputation for being family friendly fun, they've never embraced the competitive fighting scene the way other publishers have. This has been a shame, however, as Super Smash Bros. has been a favorite for these legions since it was released on Nintendo 64. It looks like 2015 will finally be the year to change that, though, as Nintendo has today announced that they will be partnering with Team Apex -- the largest Super Smash Bros. competition -- for their Apex 2015 event.

It's a great step forward for the publisher and one that could be a boon for the competitive Smash Bros. scene.

Apex 2015 will take place from January 30 to February 1 in Secaucus, NJ. Head over here to register.
