Bethesda Softworks has confirmed that Fallout 76 won't see a release on Nintendo Switch.

An early supporter to Nintendo's latest console, Bethesda Softworks has brought a ton of games to the platform. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Doom, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus have all found a home on Switch. Even the upcoming Doom Eternal is scheduled to launch on Switch. However, there are some titles Bethesda won't bring to the platform.

During a panel at PAX Australia, Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines confirmed that Fallout 76 isn't coming to Switch:

"The Switch is something I can say with certainty that it's a part of every conversation with every dev we have now about what we're doing going forward because we consider it to be a viable platform," Hines said. "If the game will work on it, we want it to be on every platform possible. Fallout 76 is not because it just wasn't doable."

Hines continued by saying they assess every game to see whether it'll work on Switch. While no reason was given for why Fallout 76 won't work, we can make a guess. Likely the size and detail of the world plus the always-online component made it impossible to launch on Switch. Even running on the Xbox One X, Fallout 76 struggles to deliver a solid 30 frames-per-second.

Fallout 76 is out November 14 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game's beta launches tomorrow, October 30, on PS4 and PC. It us currently available on Xbox One.
