The NPD Group has released some sales data for November 2017, and it was great news for Call of Duty: WWII and bad news for Star Wars Battlefront II.

It was a stellar November for the games industry this year. US console video game sales rose 9% compared to November 2016 for a total of $842 million. The winner of the month, by far, was Call of Duty: WWII. After years of flagging sales due to player fatigue towards future warfare, Activision and Sledgehammer Games took the franchise back to World War II. That decision is clearly paying off as Call of Duty: WWII sold 4.4 million copies, according to NPD.

The opposite was true for Star Wars Battlefront II. The intense controversy over the game's microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics did end up hurting sales for EA and DICE's latest shooter. During the month of November, Star Wars Battlefront II only managed to move 882,000 copies, down by one million units compared to the 2015 original's first month. NPD does only track retail sales, so it's impossible to tell how much the game made up in digital sales. Wedbush analysts do expect the game to do better in December thanks to the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The fiasco has already lost EA around $3 billion in stock value.

Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II are out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Be sure to check back for more November 2017 results from the NPD Group.
