While August has more increasingly become the unofficial start of the packed holiday gaming season with more and more notable releases, one title has continued to reign supreme during this final month of summer every year.

To no one’s surprise, Madden NFL 19 came out in first as the best-selling title of August, per the NPD Group, with Monster Hunter: World and Rainbow Six: Siege rounding out the top three. Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker was the only other August 2018 release to crack the top ten by showing up at sixth, while We Happy Few also made an appearance at number nineteen. Intriguingly, 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 managed to outshine the more recent WWII entry, showing up at eighth thanks to its newfound backwards compatibility on Xbox One.
