Numskull Games today announced that it would bring two titles -- AI: The Somnium Files and Crystar -- to retailers in Europe and Australia after entering into a partnership with Spike Chunsoft.

As part of the collaboration, The Somnium Files will receive both a physical and digital release in Europe on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Crystar, which was initially released in Japan last year, will launch digitally and physically on both consoles in Europe on August 30.

The Somnium Files is a neo-noir adventure title that transports players to a futuristic Tokyo and has them taking control of Special Agent Kaname Date, who is tasked with stopping a mysterious serial killer.

The Japanese developer plans to release the title on September 17 in North America and September 19 in Japan.

Hardcore Gamer went hands-on with The Somnium Files at GDC, saying that it was a “fresh game being made by a pair of artists that know their craft, set in a well-drawn world that digs into some unique mechanics.”

In our hands-on preview with Crystar, we said that “any fan of action JRPGs should keep an eye on.”

Martin Defries, the head of Numskull Games, said: “It is an honor to announce Spike Chunsoft as a partner of Numskull Games.

“We have a deep understanding and appreciation of the games that Spike Chunsoft deliver to their many fans and are looking forward to revealing their exciting lineup of future releases across Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.”

Mitsutoshi Sakurai, the president and CEO of Spike Chunsoft, added: "We are thrilled about our new partnership with Numskull Games.

“Our teams have a shared mission to deliver exciting, cutting-edge gaming content and experiences.

“We cannot wait to show our passionate community what we have in store for the future.”
