Obsidian’s Microscopic Survival Game Grounded Revealed

So with Microsoft having acquired Obsidian last year, several people suddenly began wondering what the Outer Worlds and New Vegas developers would be bringing to the table. And today during the Inside Xbox showcase at the X019 event in London, we were finally shown what they’ve been working on: Grounded. The developer is now taking a stab at creating a unique survival game, it seems, this time by shrinking players down to explore the perils of a suburban backyard, allowing players to act out their own version of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.

As seen in the announcement trailer below, our now-ant-sized kids have to hunt for supplies in their backyard, crafting shelter and tools from everyday objects and foliage, all while fending off dangerous insects and arachnids. Players will be able to tackle this tiny world solo, or team up with three players in co-op multiplayer. Grounded will be due out in Spring 2020 for XB1 and PC, hitting Xbox Game Pass on day one. It will will also be initially available through Xbox Game Preview, and will be playable this weekend at X019. Obsidian has apparently been working on this for at least a couple of years, so here’s hoping all goes well.
