PQube games, publisher of Japanese content ranging from the likes of BlazBlue to Gal-Gun has announced today that the western release of Omega Labyrinth Z for PS4 and PS Vitahas been permanently cancelled. In a statement posted to Twitter, PQube stated that despite their best efforts, they were not able to convince Sony to allow them to publish the game on the above-mentioned platforms. They also stated that they would offer no further comment on the matter from here on, so it's likely that gamers will never know what exactly Sony's issue with the game is.

Omega Labyrinth Z employs an outrageous premise similar to the likes of Gal-Gun. It's a dungeon crawling game wherein the the heroes power up not by gathering experience or powerful equipment, but rather by increasing their bust size. Essentially, the bigger a character's chest gets, the more damage they're able to do. The game's makers took no steps to try and hide this, in fact it was more or less celebrated by the marketing. Seriously, just take a look at its announcement trailer.

One would have to assume that Sony dislikes the premise or content, but considering that Gal-Gun is still available on their online store, there must be more to the story than that. Perhaps Omega Labyrinth Z takes things too far in another area, perhaps in a feature unique to the game.

All that said, Western fans looking forward to trying Omega Labyrinth Z might sill have a chance, as PQube has also stated that they haven't ruled out the possibility of publishing the game on Steam.
