Overwatch Season One Ending on August 17

With Overwatch’s inaugural competitive season well underway, developer Blizzard has released a quick update, which clarifies exactly when the season will come to a close.

As detailed on the Battle.net forums, Season One is set to end on Wednesday, August 17, at 5:00 PM PT, one day earlier than planned. Season Two is set to begin a few weeks later on September 6, though Blizzard is quick to point out that this might change as the date draws closer.

Anyone who completed the requisite ten placement matches will receive a special spray and player icon when the season comes to a close. For the truly skilled, if you at some point during the season broke into the Top 500 players on your platform and in your region, you’ll receive an additional player icon and special animated spray.

In addition to sprays and icons, players will also recieve a specified number of Competitive Points, which is determined by the highest skill rating achieved during the season (as opposed to your current ranking). The breakdown for Skill Rating (SR) to Competitive Point (CP) can be found below:

  • SR 0-39: 10 CPs
  • SR 40-45: 20 CPs
  • SR 46-49: 40 CPs
  • SR 50-52: 60 CPs
  • SR 53-55: 80 CPs
  • SR 56-59: 120 CPs
  • SR 60-64: 200 CPs
  • SR 65+: 300 CPs

For those who don’t know, Competitive Points are also earned by winning a competitive game (one per victory), and can be exchanged for special golden versions of weapons. As of now, one golden weapon skin will cost 300 Competitive Points.
