Scalebound is really cancelled, and Xbox Head Phil Spencer has delivered his thoughts on the matter.

Scalebound was set to be one of Xbox One's biggest console exclusive titles of 2017. However, after today, that's not going to happen. Microsoft revealed today that the Platinum Games developed action-RPG title has been cancelled. This has upset many fans, and Xbox Head took to Twitter to help assure them that he's confident in Xbox's 2017 lineup.

First off, Spencer did acknowledge that cancelling the title was a difficult decision, but thought the result would be better for Xbox fans. How exactly? Spencer didn't elaborate. He did say that he is optimistic about the rest of the year.

Scalebound's cancellation came out of nowhere with reports only coming in today. The game was last shown off at E3 2016 where it was revealed that the game had been delayed to 2017. Microsoft will have to rely on other exclusive titles like Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, and State of Decay 2 to differentiate itself from its competitors. The company will also launch Project Scorpio, a 4K capable Xbox console, this holiday season.
