Gearbox Software today revealed what kind of experience players can expect when playing Borderlands 3 on PS4 Pro.
Much like many other games, players can choose what experience they want to have on PS4 Pro in Borderlands 3. The enhanced console’s power can either be put towards an improved performance or presentation.
Speaking with the PlayStation Blog, Online & Social Product Owner Scott Velasquez confirmed that PS4 Pro owners can choose between “favor resolution” and “favor performance.” In favor resolution, Borderlands 3 employs a dynamic resolution that reaches as high as possible, but caps the frame rate at 30fps. Favor performance, however, locks the resolution to 1080p, but bumps the frame rate to 60fps. If you’e using a 1080p TV while in ‘favor performance’ mode, the game supersamples from the higher resolution.
No word yet on how resolution and framerate will work on Xbox One X, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find a similar setup to PS4 Pro. Meanwhile, both base consoles are locked to 1080p at 30 frames-per-second. As usual, PC users get a wide range of options to choose from based on their hardware setup.
Borderlands 3 is out September 13 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
