Rhianna DeVries has said that it was “Freaking terrifying” to take on the role of Chloe Price in Life Is Strange: Before the Storm.

During an AMA on the Life Is Strange subreddit, a Reddit user asked DeVries, who provides the voice and motion capture for Chloe, how it felt to play such “an iconic and beloved character” in Before the Storm.

“Chloe is a character that a lot of people really connect with, and being sensitive to that is a huge priority for me and everyone working on Before the Storm,” DeVries wrote. “Taking on Chloe has been a really scary and vulnerable experience, but I love it!”

DeVries took on the acting duties for Chloe after Ashly Burch, who originally played the character in Dontnod Entertainment’s Life Is Strange, was unable to reprise her role due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. However, Burch is still involved in Before the Storm as a writing consultant for developer Deck Nine.

Before the Storm, which Square Enix announced at E3 2017, is a three-part episodic prequel to Life Is Strange. The story focuses on Chloe and the relationship she builds with fellow student Rachel Amber.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm’s first episode, Awake, was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Episode 1: Awake received a positive review from Hardcore Gamer, especially for how it “starts the prequel series off strong with a narrative that makes you care about Chloe in an all-new way.”
