Sony is delaying the launch of the PlayStation 4 in China due to "various factors," according to a statement released by Sony today. A new launch date has not been determined yet.

The launch was originally scheduled for January 11, and according to a report by Reuters, the delay is due to "prolonged negotiations with Chinese authorities." The Chinese government lifted a 14-year ban on gaming consoles last year, allowing the release of Microsoft's Xbox One in September.

Even though the consoles are now allowed in the country, there are still strict censorship laws that may still prevent many games from making their way over, at least in their original form. As well, since home consoles have been absent for so long from China, many analysts have predicted that the market may be slow to adopt them in favor of mobile gaming.
