Playtonic Games today put down rumors that they're working on a new Banjo Kazooie game.

Yesterday, speculation ran rampant concerning Playtonic Games' future. Following a series of cryptic tweets, fans of Banjo Kazooie pieced together a theory that the studio was not only working on a new game in the franchise, but were also going to be acquired by Xbox. However, it turns out none of this is the case.

Taking to Twitter, Playtonic shut down all speculation regarding a possible Banjo game and acquisition. In conclusion, while the studio found the speculation amusing, they've opted to set the record straight:

Former Rare employees that worked on the Banjo Kazooie franchised founded Playtonic back in 2014. The team developed Yooka-Laylee, a platforming series with a resemblance to Banjo Kazooie. The studio has released two games in the series, Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Layer. Meanwhile, Banjo Kazooie's most recent appearance came in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC character.

Both Yooka-Laylee games are available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. As for Banjo, Banjo Kazooie is available now in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for $5.99.
