Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Sold Over 3 Million Copies

In a recent statement by the Pokémon Company, it was announced that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire — 3D remakes of the original GBA titles — have sold over 3 million copies in three days. Although Pokemon X and Y sold considerably more in a shorter period, the latest games in the esteemed series are remakes. As such, it’s likely that many franchise fans are holding out (while fun, the new content in the games is mostly padding).

Another important tidbit to keep in mind is that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have yet to release in Europe; a significant contributor in X and Y’s successful launch. It’s likely that the titles will see a surge in sales soon following November 28 (EU release), and the coming holiday season.
