Cannes, France, eponymous home of the Cannes Film Festival, is one of the most important places in the movie world. Hollywood may be where dreams are born, but it's in Cannes that they become art. It is a snooty place full of snooty people - not exactly a hub for Pokémon fans - but today Cannes played home to the announcement of Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, which will be coming to our shores some time this year.

In the movie, Ash Ketchum meets the legendary mischief Pokémon Hoopa, who, in addition to having amazing psychic powers, can apparently talk. The dub showcased in the trailer is more than a little cringe-worthy, but it's Pokémon so ultimately that won't matter. What will matter is the opportunity to see Kyogre, Groudon, Palkia, Dialga, Arceus, Latios, Latias, Lugia, and Rayquaza throw down in an epic brawl that threatens to destroy the entire planet. Not since you played against your one butthead friend in middle school have this many legends been assembled in one place, and the results are sure to be explosive. For Pokémon fans the action scenes alone should be worth the price of admission.
