There have been a lot of rumors over the past week that Capcom would unveil the remake of Resident Evil 3 during the State of Play this week. Capcom followed through on that and showed off the trailer while introducing Project Resistance during the video conference Tuesday Morning. Turns out, Project Resistance is the online multiplayer mode that will be included in Resident Evil 3. REmake 3 will run on the RE Engine and feature Jill Valentine as the main protagonist. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance, which was previously known as Project Resistance.
The trailer starts off with a countdown timer showcasing major events from Resident Evil 2. The clock then resets to Jill running from what looks to be Nemesis in a first person view as she jumps out of a window into an alley way much like how she was introduced in the original game. What is worth noting is that this could mean that Capcom may introduce the option to play the game in first person, but the gameplay does confirm over-the-shoulder camera angle. The rest of the trailer shows off famous characters from the original such as Brad Vickers and Carlos.
Resident Evil 3 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam and will launch on April 3, 2020. North American console players will also be able to purchase a Resident Evil 3Collector’s Edition. This premium package contains a physical copy of Resident Evil 3, a high quality Jill Valentine figure, printed artbook, a Raccoon City map wall poster and a digital Resident Evil 3 soundtrack. Those who pre-order will also receive the exclusive Classic Costume Pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira. Resident Evil Resistance will also be a 4 vs 1 online campaign with one player taking the reigns as William Birkin and other famous bosses from the series. You can view the trailer below.
