Resident Evil 7 is close to becoming the first and only entry in Capcom's long-running, survival-horror series, to reach the coveted 10 million mark. That's following today's news that 2017's acclaimed departure from the series' former, third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective -- in the form of a more first-person style of gameplay -- has now reached more than nine million copies sold since release. Cementing its place as the best-selling entry in the series to date.

But it's not the only change to the ranking of best-sellers. 2019's remake of Resident Evil 2, has now also soared into second-place. Beating the likes of Resident Evil 5 & 6 respectively -- two games that, for the longest time, had been seen as the most commercially-successful titles in the series -- with total sales now standing at 8 million copies. 2020's Resident Evil 3 remake also seeing a reasonable level of success, with updated sales figures nearing 4 million units. Not only that, it would seem Resident Evil is looking to continue with its success into the near future -- the recently-released Resident Evil Village having already sold more than three million copies across all platforms. The question is, can anything now steal Resident Evil 7's crown?
