Shortly after the launch of the Titanfall battle royale spin-off, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella made it clear that the studio is still dedicated to the core franchise, claiming at the time that the studio was “working on more Titanfall for later in the year.”

However, a recent Reddit post from executive producer Drew McCoy seems to hint that these plans may be changing due to the free-to-play title’s success. The majority of the post focuses on the future of Apex Legends, including the upcoming Season 2 which will be detailed in-depth at this year's EA Play, the publisher’s pre-E3 event. Featuring a new legend, weapon and Battle Pass, alongside changes to the map and additional gameplay tweaks, the second season is looking to continue the momentum of the game’s record-setting launch. In the post, McCoy also mentions that they are “pushing out plans for future Titanfall games,” seemingly insinuating that the original plans for a new Titanfall title in 2019 may no longer be happening this year.
