Retro Highway Coming from Mobile to Switch

The world of mobile gaming has long been looked as a cesspool for console gamers – and in some ways it is, but there are a relative handful of great games on that marketplace that make for great choices to put on the Switch. In some cases, concepts get expanded or the shift from free to play with ads to a paid model opens up the options to the player. With Retro Highway, you get a Road Rash-inspired look for an endless runner and it’s one of the most addictive runners I’ve ever played. There are a lot of different stage options for it – including the moon and a gorgeous-looking candy-themed stage that’s just a lot of fun.

Strangely, despite the game just using left and right on-screen controls for movement and few button commands, it doesn’t have actual controller support baked in. That alone has me wanting to pick up the Switch version because it should be a natural fit for the platform. The goal of just getting a little bit further and the overall look reminds me of what a Road Rash game would look like with Outrun’s core concept behind it – and it’s an interesting mash-up. Hopefully, this leads to another game of this type coming out – but with combat to keep the pixel art Road Rash-style alive. At only $5.99, it’s priced fairly well given how much content is in the mobile game and it looks like this will have that same content when it launches on November 11.
