Most of the time, when indie developers create a retro-inspired title they base their games off of NES, SNES, or Genesis classics. But, some folks out there are inspired by the Sega Master System instead.

That's the case with Axel the Penguin, an upcoming 2D platformer which is currently seeking votes on Steam Greenlight.  It features the same 16 colors as the Master System's palette and attempts to create a platformer that's tons of fun even in the modern day. There are all sorts of secrets to be discovered, as well as three different endings.

Axel the Penguin plans to add achievements and trading cards if and when it makes its way through Steam Greenlight.
