While rumors have suggested that Rise of the Tomb Raider, the outstanding timed Xbox One exclusive from Crystal Dynamics, will be released on PC in January, we've lacked official confirmation of the port's actual launch date. That all changed today, as Rise of the Tomb Raider has been confirmed for a January 2016 release date on its official Steam Page.

This date is far sooner than the vast majority of gamers expected, as Microsoft's console exclusivity seemed like it would last longer than a mere two months. Pessimists out there might suggest that the reported poor sales of Rise of the Tomb Raider might have been the main reason for this, as the fantastic action-adventure title failed to chart in its release month (likely due to it sharing a launch date with one Fallout 4).

Tomb Raider's PC version was fantastic, so the hope here is that this will be the definitive edition of this title, as there's nothing wrong with having a gorgeous game look and run even better than it originally did.
