Rockstar Games has finally issued a statement regarding the technical issues plaguing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.

A HD remastered collection of three of the most celebrated games of all time should have been a slam dunk. Instead, less than a week after it was released, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has been plagued with technical issues and alterations that have earned it a bad reputation. To make matters worse, Rockstar pulled the classic versions from their storefront, angering longtime fans. Now, the studio and publisher has released a statement regarding their plans for the future of the collection.

First off, they acknowledged and apologized that the game launched in such a horrible state. To rectify this, the team plans to release a series of updates to get the games technical performance up to snuff. The first update lands in the coming days to address many of the game's issues. In the meantime, the studio asks that the community not harass their developers on social media.

Second, Rockstar admitted that it was a mistake to remove the classic versions of the game on PC. The classic versions of all three games will be available for purchase on the Rockstar Store soon as a bundle. To sweeten the pot, anyone that purchases Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on PC from the Rockstar Store through June 30, 2022 can get the classic versions for free.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
