We've been playing the Rodea the Sky Soldier trumpet since its return to the public eye several weeks back. Not only is it a game that appears deeply entrenched in design philosophies that mimics those of the mid-to-late 90s, it just looks like a darn fine game. Thankfully, it finally has a release date. In japan, at least. This week’s Famitsu magazine unveiled the game's launch, noting that it will hit Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on April 2.

Furthermore, first-print copies of the Wii U edition will come with the original version of Rodeo the Sky Soldier. For the unaware, the original game was in development for the Wii initially, but never materialized, and eventually was shifted to the Wii U and 3DS.

So, why are we so excited about Rodea you ask? Well, it's quite simple: the game is being developed by Yuji Naka. You may know his name. After all, he's only the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Right now, there is no word on a Western release. But, we're holding out hope. Call it intuition, but we have a strong feeling we'll get this at some point. And we wouldn't be too shocked if it was sooner rather than later... Say, early Summer 2015? Hey, a guy can hope, right?
