Well, it looks like there's gonna be a Disney Infinity 3.0, courtesy of a leaked image of the game's box and some Star Wars pack-in toys that surfaced on a site called Disney Kingdom.

The site has since taken the image down at the request of Disney with a promise of "more news from Disney soon," but the image, embedded below, shows off Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano from the Clone Wars animated series, so if true, I'm sure we can expect plenty of lines of dialogue in the full game to end with "Skyguy." The box features clear "3.0" branding, suggesting that fans will need to buy the new game to play the new content.

Obviously, you have to take leaks like this with a grain of salt since they could be an elaborate hoax by someone with Photoshop skills and too much free time, but it makes sense. Star Wars characters have been rumored to be coming to the Infinity games for a long time, and with Episode VII and Battlefront on the way later this year, an Infinity 3.0 featuring Star Wars as the primary selling point is a no-brainer -- the same way that Infinity 2.0 featured Marvel as its selling point around the same time that Marvel's movies were really skyrocketing in popularity.

Even the choice of characters lines up too well: while it might be initially confusing that it would feature characters from The Clone Wars instead of from the new movie, that animated series has long been considered a fan-favorite cut too short and was already aimed at the younger demographic an Infinity 3.0 would be aiming for. You have to give Disney props for what is a pretty brilliant marketing plan, letting kids have fun with the characters from the cartoons with Infinity 3.0, older fans play in the classic and revered original trilogy time period with Star Wars Battlefront, and let everyone blaze a new path with all-new characters with Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

As long as all those things are actually good, Disney taking over the franchise might've been the best thing to happen to Star Wars in a long, long time.
