Last week we reported that there would be two Assassin’s Creed games releasing this year.  Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed: Unity for next-gen consoles, but has yet to make an official announcement for the second game.  However, sources have come forward to confirm Assassin’s Creed Comet for last-gen consoles.

Yesterday, French website Gamesblog published details about Assassin’s Creed Comet, which have since been translated by Reddit user GalakFyarr.  The information reveals the time period, location and main character.  Obviously, treat this rumor with a grain of salt until Ubisoft makes a formal announcement.

Assassin’s Creed Comet will supposedly take place in 1758 and will be a sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.  Players will take control of Shay, a British sailor who betrays his Assassin captain and becomes a Templar.  The captain is Adewale from Blag Flag.

New York will make a return in Comet with Haytham Kenway also set to return, most likely as the Templar Grand Master.  Players will also be able to sail alongside the Atlantic coast of the United States.  The sources describe Comet as a blend between Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Freedom Cry.

Only PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were said to be in development.  No word on a PC version, though it is more than possible.  Whether or not Ubisoft will port the game to Wii U is currently unknown.

We’ll let you know if Ubisoft makes any announcements about Assassin’s Creed Comet.

Thanks, Kotaku!
