The next Call of Duty will be a fourth entry into the Black Ops franchise, according to a new report from Eurogamer.

Treyarch is one of the three developers in the rotation tasked with creating the annual series, and 2018 is their year. Treyarch is known for the Black Ops series, which has followed story lines throughout the Cold War, near future and the far future. They were also the creators of the Call of Duty Zombies franchise. This time around, Eurogamer reports, they will be taking on the modern day, with a noticeable lack of jet packs. This due to the negative feedback regarding them over the years, culminating in 2016's Infinite Warfare, which saw a dip in sales.

First word of Black Ops 4 came by way of Marcus Sellars, a Twitter user who claims to be an industry insider and is known for breaking stories. In his thread about Black Ops 4, he mentioned that there will be a Switch version of the new Call of Duty. It will reportedly support all of the DLC packs, as well as HD Rumble and motion controls, which will of course be Switch exclusive features. He says the company porting it to the Switch is "familiar with COD games."

With 2017's Call of Duty: WWII seeing a spike in sales after Infinite Warfare's dip, it seems the next few Call of Duty's will see an exclusion of futuristic elements.
