It's no secret that February has quickly become one of gaming's biggest months in 2022, largely due to the large amount of high-profile games that experienced delays, such as Horizon: Forbidden West, Dying Light 2, and Elden Ring. But another delay has cleared up some space now, with the victim in question this time being Volition's Saints Row reboot. The latest set of criminal escapades and over-the-top gang warfare for our brand new Saints will have to wait until August of 2022.

In an update on the game's official site, Volition's Chief Creative Officer Jim Boone detailed the reasons for the game's delay. Though at this point, we shouldn't need tell all of you in a post-March 2020 world what one of the main reasons is. The team underestimated the impact of COVID-19 on development, and while they're been able to adapt to working from home, they still plan on making this the biggest and most ambitious Saints Row game yet, and thus they need more time to do their vision justice and apply as much polish as possible. The new release date for Saints Row is August 23, 2022, when it will see a release for PC, XSX, XB1, PS5, and PS4.
