The largest hard drive manufacturer in the world is bringing their SSD technology to the Xbox One. Seagate has already released multiple Xbox branded external hard drives over the last year, but this is the first official Solid State Drive for the platform.
This drive is being built for performance, substantially increasing load times, so while you're able to pick up the sizable standard Game Drive for relatively cheap, that won't be the case here. The first model of the Game Drive for Xbox SSD will include 512GB worth of space and priced at $199.99.
It's not a lot of space, especially considering games are becoming increasingly larger, but this is for the most dedicated gamers who are looking for a secondary drive that's centered on performance over capacity. The SSD uses USB 3.0 for the fastest speeds possible externally, and comes in the standard enclosure we've seen most Seagate external hard drives utilizes, but with a darker metal grey finish on the front.
The Seagate Game Drive for Xbox SSD will be available later in November.
