The upcoming remake of Shadow of the Beast, developed by Heavy Spectrum, will come packed-in with a playable version of the original Commodore Amiga version.

As detailed by Heavy Spectrum CEO Matt Birch on the PlayStation Blog, players will be able to play through the 1989 Amiga version in its entirety. The version included will include some minor tweaks to modernize it for today’s audience.

Birch writes, “It’s something of a notoriously difficult game, so we’ve added an infinite lives mode and some other helpful features that should give you a fighting chance of reaching the end – these can be disabled for anyone brave enough!”

While the Amiga game won’t be available from the start, players can unlock it as they play through the remake. As an added bonus, players that manage to collect enough mana will be able to unlock the Amiga version’s original score for use in the remade version.

Shadow of the Beast is set to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on May 17.
