The PS4/Vita re-release of the fan favorite fighter Skullgirls, 2nd Encore, isn’t going to be a typical re-release, as developers Lab Zero Games and Autumn Games are delivering a considerable amount of content to Sony’s newest systems.
As announced by the team, the new release will deliver a fully voiced story mode featuring iconic voice actors from classic anime and games. Notable names in the cast are Sean Schemmel (Goku from Dragon Ball Z), Wendee Lee (Faye from Cowboy Bebop), and Erica Mendez (Ryuko from Kill la Kill), to name a few.
Additional modes like Challenges (fights with unique conditions) and Trials (a training mode of sorts where players can try out combos), and Survival Mode (a neverending endurance mode) will also hit 2nd Encore, along with 43 trophies to snag.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore will also have both cross-play support across PS4, PS3, and Vita. In addition, the PS4 and Vita versions have cross-buy, so snagging either one will net you the other. The Vita version is expected to launch shortly after the PS4 version. The PS4 2nd Encore will support PS3 fightsticks as well.
Phew! Talk about a cavalcade of content! Skullgirls: 2nd Encore will hit PS4 and Vita this summer, with the content being planned for release on PC as downloadable content. Pre-ordering the game will also get you a Skullgirls PS4 theme. Get ready to return to Skullgirls this summer, but not before checking out our review of the original release.
