Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs has earned itself the obligatory new-gen remaster with Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, but a recent thread on the official Sleeping Dogs forum reveals that the graphical and technical improvements could be big enough to warrant a re-purchase.

The community manager for the official Sleeping Dogs forum, GDArcan, announced some fresh new info regarding the updates to the game for the Definitive Edition in response to questions from the gaming community. Taking advantage of the new tech, Definitive Edition will have a number of graphical improvements from the original.

“We've increased the overall resolution of the game so it's now natively running in 1080p. The textures have also had their resolutions increased as draw distances have been increased as well, making things sharper! Add to this volumetric fog to represent the humidity of Hong Kong and hopefully you'll have the background of your dreams ;)”

As far as gameplay changes go, the post describes changes in counter-window time, along with physics updates and camera changes across the full game and all DLC.

When a user referenced another Square Enix remaster, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, in comparative quality, GDArcan laughed it off:

“UFG was involved in both so I reckon you can expect the same quality of DE as a very minimum. As to which is better, that'll be down to everyone's opinion, though given that we're on the Sleeping Dogs boards here...well you know ;)”

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is set to release on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 10 in Europe and October 14 in North America.
