Sony Issues, then Retracts, Strikes Against YouTube Accounts with No Man’s Sky Footage

Earlier today a number of YouTubers found that their accounts had been flagged by Sony for copyright infringement for posting videos of No Man’s Sky gameplay footage, even though many of the videos contained exclusively old gameplay footage that in no way violated copyright law. Once a strike has been put onto a YouTube account it can no longer livestream footage, which for many YouTubers is one of the site’s main uses to reach their fans.

Head of Hello Games, Sean Murray apologized for the misunderstanding on Twitter, while Sony realized its error and has since removed the strikes from these users accounts.

No Man’s Sky releases tomorrow August 9 for PS4 and August 12 for PC.
