Consumers’ increased turn towards purchasing video games digitally might prove a tad more genuine, least in the UK, with the recent release of Soulcalibur VI. Despite the game’s critical acclaim upon release -- not to mention The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia making a cameo appearance -- the sixth entry in Bandai Namco’s weapon-based fighter and the first in over six years, only managed to sell half that of V’s physical sales in its opening week, landing in eighth place in the charts, as a result. Naturally, digital sales will mitigate some (though not all) of the lost revenue from decreased physical copies, though it's hard to say to what extent.

Unsurprisingly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 remains top — adding to its already-accumulated $500 million earned globally, thus far — with FIFA 19 following in the number two spot and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey close behind in third. In fact, the top three spots remain unchanged from how they were last week. Once more, not a Grand Theft Auto in sight.
