In this morning’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Nintendo’s intriguing third-person competitive shooter Splatoon will slip onto Wii U in North America sometime in May. Previously announced for a vague “spring release”, the game is set to be the only the third major Wii U release of 2015, following Kirby and Rainbow Curse in February and Mario Party 10 in March.

The Direct also contained a slew of new information on Splatoon, including new details on characters and weapons. Nintendo’s first foray into the competitive online shooter scene is shaping up to be much more than we initially imagined, and at this point May can’t come soon enough.
