When Valve announced that Steam would be distributing a number of software programs to Windows (and soon to be Mac) users, one thing came to the minds of gamers: 75% off Photoshop! While that certainly won't happen for quite some time, Steam has finally released their first wave of software, mainly consisting of game-centric programs. These include GameMaker: Studio (which comes with achievements), 3D-Coat, ArtRage Studio Pro, 3DMark Vantage, 3DMark 11, CameraBag 2, and of course the Source Filmmaker.

With the exception of Source Filmmaker and the free version of GameMaker: Studio, every program will run buyers back a couple of bucks, some going as high as $199.99. You probably won't see Autodesk in the mix selling 3DS Max and Maya licenses any time soon, but it would be smart for companies to at least release a demo on Steam. It's a good way to reach out to a potential audience.

Also, for the catalog's first introduction week, Steam will be offering a 10% off deal to everything. Break out your wallet as I can highly recommend the 3DMark series to any PC enthusiast.
