ARK: Survival Evolved is getting a new game mode that offers a brand new ways for players to survive. 'Survival of the Fittest' is that new game mode, allowing players to enter an arena and fight to the death.

Studio Wildcard's Kayd Hendrick's and Twitch's Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez will host a live five-hour tournament on Saturday, August 1. A 'Survival of the Fittest' tournament will begin at 12pm PST with thirty-five teams  competing for the grand prize of $20,000 and gaming accessories from Logitech and Gunnar Optiks. Kayd and Alex will be there to give play-by-play commentary, and discuss the new mode.

'Survival of the Fittest' has been designed specifically for tournament play. The mode is extremely reminiscent of 'The Hunger Games,' where players begin in a neutral area, a cache of valuable items is placed at the center, and then its an all-out brawl to the death. Players can engage each other immediately, or pull back into the forest and bide their time. A 'ring of death' continuously shrinks as time passes, forcing contestants closer together.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on PC via Steam Early Access. The game fully launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC summer 2016. The PS4 version will feature Project Morpheus support, while the PC version features Oculus Rift support.
