Earlier today, Hamish Bode, the Community Developer at Ubisoft Massive went to Twitch to detail all of the new features, items, and of course the first Incursion coming to The Division in the upcoming 1.1 update.

Let's get right to it. The Division's first Incursion, called Falcon Lost, could be compared to a 4-man version of a raid in Destiny. It will be hard, it will require strategy, and the loot will be unmatched. Weekly resets will effect your odds of getting better gear the second, third, or fourth time through an Incursion in a week, although those repeated efforts will still be incrementally rewarded, unlike Destiny. Also similar is the availability of two difficulty settings. In The Division, they are "Hard" and "Challenge" and from what the two developers said on the stream, it seems like the Challenge mode will be pretty brutal. To know if you're ready for an Incursion, you'll want to reference the new Gear Score attributed to your character, which, much like Destiny's Light system, is based on the quality of gear in your inventory, all added up and averaged. For Hard mode, there is a recommended Gear Score, and for Challenge mode, there is a required Gear Score.

In many ways, though, and Incursion differs from a Destiny raid. For one thing, there is matchmaking for Incursions, which is gives the Gear Score recommendation/requirement its purpose; so that when you try to matchmake you don't get stuck with someone under leveled. Secondly, there are no checkpoints. This means that if your whole team goes down, that's it. You go back to the beginning. This will encourage (or more likely force) players to use more strategy, to play it safe. They also mentioned that their final boss, which was revealed to be a vehicle/tank thing, will not just be a bullet sponge, which Destiny's bosses have been accused of being. Apparently your team will have to find some other way to kill it other than simply using your guns.

As for the story behind the Incursion, they did not say too much, as they didn't want to spoil anything, but they did say that it will add a good chunk of lore to this universe. You are fighting for a water treatment facility that has been taken over by a new faction called the Last Man Battalion. This facility is underground, so the entrance to the Incursion (and the whole thing for that matter) takes place in the sewer system of New York.

The main baddie, Captain Perez, is leading this LMB, and will be the guy insulting you through your radio throughout the Incursion. What's interesting about this VO, though, is that it is logically randomized, meaning that he will say different things each time you play through an Incursion based on what you do, or what kind of different tactics you use.

What will you get when you finish an Incursion, and will it be worth it? Well, Bode revealed that gear sets will be coming to The Division with 1.1, and the main loot found in Falcon Lost will be this new, high leveled gear. There were four sets that were mentioned on the stream, them being Path of the Nomad, Sentry's Call, Striker's Battle Gear, and Tactician's Authority. Each one is built for a certain type of player. For instance, the Sentry's Call gear set is built for the precision player; the guy or girl who uses sniper rifles and big scopes to make sure every bullet counts. The Striker's Battle Gear set is focussed around assault, meaning it's for the run-and-gunner who jumps straight into the action. And the Tactician's Authority is for the techie who uses their gadgets to get things done. Path of the Nomad was not talked about much in detail, but it is the one you get only from doing the Incursion. They also mentioned a set only available in the Dark Zone that is made to help you in the Dark Zone, so that will be one to look out for, too.

A couple smaller features being added into the game with 1.1 have nothing to do with Falcon Lost. Gear trading is being added and will work by just dropping your gear on the ground and having other people pick it up. This is meant to be risky, though, as anyone in your group can pick up a dropped item, so make sure the intended receiver is there to grab the goods. Assignments are also a new thing, which are like Destiny's bounties. There will be weekly and daily ones, and the reward will be Phoenix Credits. Weekly assignments will obviously harder or more time consuming than the daily ones, but also more rewarding. And finally Supply Drops will be coming to the Dark Zone. A supply drop is an hourly event that happens in a randomized location in the Dark Zone. A helicopter will drop of a stash full of loot, and if your team is the first one to get there, it's all yours. A cool thing about these Supply Drops is that there is no need to wait for an extraction, because the contents of the drop are not contaminated. On the stream they mentioned that the drops will be guarded, so look out. Also look out for rogue agents, because it's the Dark Zone.

There's a lot of stuff happening to The Division very soon, so be prepared! 1.1 will release on April 12, which just so happens to be the day of the Destiny April update and Dark Souls III. Good luck.
