Bethesda has announced that they'll soon be holding a closed beta for their upcoming mobile game, The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Though it originally slated for release in late 2018, it looks like it's going to be a little while longer before Elder Scrolls fans will be able to enjoy the game's full release. Bethesda didn't say exactly when they'd be running the beta, mentioning only that it'll take place before the game enters early access sometime this spring. Access to the beta is by invitation-only, with those who sign up for early access receiving higher priority. Fans should also be aware that the beta will only be running on iOS devices.

According to the Elder Scrolls: Blades FAQ page, this beta will encompass the full game. So, those that receive the invitation should be able to play through as much of the game as they want during the beta period. For those unaware, the Elder Scrolls: Blades is a mobile-only dungeon-crawling game that involves exploring dungeons, building up one's character and rebuilding their hometown after its destruction at the beginning of the game. There's also supposed to be an ongoing story to follow.

Considering that this is going to be all Elder Scrolls fans are going to get before the eventual release of The Elder Scrolls VI, one would hope that Bethesda is going to put the necessary amount of effort into the game to make it a worthwhile experience. Considering all the good will they've lost thanks to Fallout 76 over the past few month, they're going to have to do so if they want to avoid being labeled as a slap-dash developer.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades will eventually release for iOS and Android devices, but no release date has been announced yet. Those interested in signing up for the beta can do so at PlayBlades.com.
