The original Outlast pushed survival horror in a new direction. The Red Barrels Team introduced a horror game that was so shocking that even I put it down after a while. With no ammo and a need to find hiding spots and rely on batteries, the success of the title allowed the green light for the second game. This game focused on a cult and certainly did not let up on the difficulty. Red Barrels has now announced on its twitter the third game. The Outlast Trials will take place during the Cold War and according to the Facebook post, may have a cooperative option. “Now we’ve done our proof of concept, it is time to focus on content creation, variety… and gore," stated co-founder David Chateauneuf. There is no release date on this as it seems the team has only the concept down and will begin work on production.
