THQ Nordic Bringing Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated Coming to All Consoles

Spongebob Squarepants may be a license that has seen its best days behind it, but the character and show are still fairly popular thanks to reruns. The PS2-era games were some of the few reliable licensed games that were good, and now THQ Nordic is bringing back the best-reviewed one with Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. The game features all of the original game’s content alongside content that was originally cut, like a Robo Squidward boss fight. New content includes a horde mode that is good for up to two players and has both online and local split-screen support.

From what’s been shown on the Steam page, the game looks fantastic. The character models have been rebuilt from the ground up if this is all accurate and that should bode well for making it a stunning-looking game on modern hardware. Rehydrated will be released on PC via Steam, the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. This will be a perfect fit on the Switch and it will be interesting to see how well the graphical fidelity is kept on the mobile chipset and how well-optimized it is for the more powerful PS4 Pro and Xbox One X hardware.
