The Inaugural NBA 2K League Draft was held live on Wednesday on NBA TV and Twitch. Mavs Gaming, the NBA 2K League counterparts to the Dallas Mavericks, had the initial pick and went with a Point Guard. Atreyo Boyd, aka Dimez, was the first pick of the draft as announced by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Mark Cuban even called Dimez personally. Celtics Crossover Gaming and Jazz Gaming also followed suit with Point Guards. Albano Thomallari, aka oFAB, will go to the Celtics Crossover Gaming team with Shaka Browne, aka Yeah I Compete, heading to Utah to play with Jazz Gaming. These players will be moving to new locations as Dimez' origin is Ohio, oFAB is Missouri and Yeah I Compete is out of New York.
The next two picks went the way of Power Forward as Mitchell Franklin, aka Mootyy, will be heading to Sacramento to play for Kings Guard Gaming. Mootyy may possibly be the face of NBA 2K League as he has overcome a lot of adversity over the years and landed a magical shot to get to where he is today. Rounding out the top five is another Power Forward. Going to Pistons GT, Ramo Radoncic, aka Lets Get It Ramo, will be heading to Detroit. Each of the seventeen teams selected one player at each position for the first five rounds with the last pick being whatever player they chose. The pool consisted of 102 gamers.
