Tomb Raider Publisher to Expand Eidos Montréal, Square Enix Montreal

Square Enix today announced that it has expanded Eidos Montréal and Square Enix Montreal.

The Left Alive and Kingdom Hearts III publisher has said that it would be creating over 100 game development jobs at both studios, adding to its existing workforce in the country of nearly 700 employees.

Square Enix has heavily invested in Quebec for the past ten years, with the publisher saying that it plans to continue investing and growing its sphere of influence in Canada.

Along with creating 100 new positions, the publisher revealed that the facility at Eidos Montréal would be updated, expanding the office space from 10,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet.

The Quebec-based studio, which has developed titles like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Thief, will have improved equipment to support full performance motion capture, photogrammetry studios, a user research laboratory and a studio for voice recording and mixing.

When it comes to Square Enix Montreal, which was founded in 2011, the publisher said that the Deus Ex Go, Lara Croft Go and Hitman Go developer’s studio would “more than double in size over the course of 2019.”
