Ubisoft Announces The Division Heartland, Will be Free-to-Play

Two years after the release of The Division 2, Ubisoft has continued to support its open world co-op shooter with a recent Resident Evil crossover and a new patch to enhance the performance of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In a recent blog post covering the future of “The Division Universe”, Ubisoft made several announcements regarding the next games and updates in the series. The Division 2, which has a community of over forty million players, will be receiving an “entirely new game mode” in late 2021. In addition, Ubisoft is also hard at work on an untitled The Division game for mobile devices as well as The Division Heartland, a free-to-play game by the team at Red Storm Entertainment. This standalone is set to launch on PC and consoles later this or next year, and features an “all new perspective in the universe in a new setting.” Finally, Ubisoft is looking to take the world of The Division outside of games with the previously-announced Netflix film as well as an upcoming novel.
