First EA, then Sony and now Ubisoft. The major publisher has announced today that they will be dropping online passes from any future Ubisoft game. Dubbed the "Uplay Passport," this program was required to play online in some games, most recently Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Black Flag will mark the last game that utilizes it and those without a Passport will be able to download one from XBLA or PSN for free. Those who have already purchased one are instructed to contact Ubisoft support.

This means that anybody who owns Asassin's Creed IV will be able to use the companion app, Edward's Fleet and online multiplayer at no additional cost.

A another big win for gamers today. Now let's just convince Ubisoft to get rid of Uplay altogether...
