The assassins of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate were unable to assassinate Halo 5: Guardians, and thus ceded the top spot to 343 Industries and Microsoft's latest entry in the Halo franchise. In fact, Halo 5: Guardians completely walloped Assassin's Creed: Syndicate in the UK. The first true Halo for Xbox One outsold Syndicate's week one sales by 50%. This is also how much Halo 5 outsold Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
This week was exceptionally good for brand new releases. WWE 2K16 launched in fourth place and surpassed week 1 sales of its predecessor, WWE 2K15, by a margin of 3-to-1. Last week also saw the retail release of Minecraft: Story Mode, Telltale Games' latest episodic title. Containing the first five episodes, Story Mode came in fifth place.
