Uncharted: The Lost Legacy writer and creative director Shaun Escayg has announced his departure from developer Naughty Dog.

Escayg, who also worked on Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed The Last of Us, posted the news on Twitter, saying that he would “will miss all my dogs.”

“Seven years ago, I joined the talented team at Naughty Dog on a project still in its infancy, The Last of Us,” Escayg tweeted. “Well, the rest is history. The Last of Us: Left Behind, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End were fleeting and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy pushed my creative growth even further.”

Over on Instagram, Escayg potentially revealed that his next venture would be at Square Enix, as he posted an image of The Avengers’ logo and captioned it with “to new Adventures -- bring it 2018!”

Square Enix announced last year that it had entered into a new partnership with Marvel Entertainment, with Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal spearheading development on the upcoming Avengers project.

First announced at PlayStation Experience 2016, The Lost Legacy was released in 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Hardcore Gamer awarded The Lost Legacy a near-perfect score in our review, as we found that it “embraces what the series has become so renowned for: placing real, relatable people in impossible situations that force them to come out better and stronger on the other side or not come out at all.”
