These past couple of weeks have seen a number of hardware-related announcements from Nintendo, including the unveiling of the portable-only Switch Lite and the addition of several new Joy-Con colors.

Now, Nintendo has revealed their plans to offer an updated model of the Nintendo Switch in the relatively near future. The launch model, HAC-001, will eventually be fully replaced by the updated model, HAC-001(-01), featuring updated packaging and, more importantly, a longer battery life for the hybrid platform. While the launch version of the Switch offers a battery life of 2.5-6.5 hours, and the Switch LIte offers 3-7 hours, the newest model will have the most powerful battery of the three, clocking in at a range of 4.5-9 hours depending on game usage.

The HAC-001(-01) model will come in the same two colors as the launch model, grey and red/blue, and will start appearing in retail stores in “mid-August.”
