Yes. Good lord, yes. The often talked about and teased Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, from developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital, is coming to Steam Early Access October 17. Set during the first Mental War, Earth's defenses are falling under the pressure of a rather boisterous alien invasion. As is natural in these games, it is left to Sam 'Serious' Stone to save the day. Using the Battlecruiser Saratoga as a home base, players can select different missions and complete them on Earth. Missions, of course, is a euphemism for "gleefully gruesome carnage."

Nobody plays a Serious Sam game for plot, though. It's all about violently managing the massive hordes of enemies that keep pouring into the level. Based on the trailer (seen below), that trend will continue. The trailer shows some old favorites like the Beheaded Kamikaze and swarms of Kleer Skeletons, but there is also a promise of new alien species that require perforation. The game also promises a sizable armory of upgradable and customizable weaponry, along with a skill tree to give Sam a better chance. (Really? It's Sam. I would imagine that he would argue that he is all the "better chance" he needs. Still, I appreciate it even if he wouldn't.) When it launches, the title will be $40 on Steam and exclusive to the Vive. The Oculus Rift will see support approximately whenever the hell the Oculus Touch controllers are released. (My words. Not theirs.)
