Sledgehammer Games have announced Winter Siege, an upcoming winter event for Call of Duty: WWII.
Themed events are coming to Call of Duty: WWII, and it all begins with Winter Siege. Kicking off Friday, December 8, 2017 and running through Tuesday, January 2, 2018, Winter Seiege gives players an array of activities to participate in and plenty of free content to all players.
“The Winter Siege is all about celebrating with the Call of Duty community,” said Aaron Halon, Senior Product Developer, Multiplayer, Sledgehammer Games. “There’s a ton of content for everyone to play during this time from a reimagined Winter Carentan multiplayer map that’s now packed with snow to Gun Game to Supply Drops full of winter-themed gear and content all available throughout the Winter Siege.”
It all begins with Winter Carentan, which has been reimagined again with a winter theme. During this time, all players will be able to play on the map. Previously, you had to have purchased the Season Pass to access the map. Winter Siege also brings back Gun Game for a limited time. Players can hop into this fan-favorite mode during the second week of the event.
Headquarters will be decked out in seasonally appropriate attire, and will welcome Captain Butcher who will be the new Quartermaster for the event. He brings new winter uniforms, cosmetics, and weapons. The Gewehr 43, Sten, GMPG, a pickax, and new knife are being added to the game, but won’t be locked behind Supply Drops. Instead, players can unlock a free variant of each weapon through Special Orders from Major Howard. Other variants will need to be found via Winter Siege Supply Drops or completing Collections.
Winter Siege Supply Drops can be purchased with real-world money, or earned in-game by playing. Players will also receive a free Winter Siege Supply Drop by logging in each week to play.
Call of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Be sure to log in December 8 when the Winter Siege event kicks off.
